TM NOVAK started as a folksy singer-songwriter in Boston, MA. Songs about despair, nostalgia, heartache.

In 2013 TM moved to Boulder, CO and soon formed an old-timey string band called The Ridgelings. When all its members moved on in 2015 he expanded his musical horizons in a lo-fi pop/noise/minimalist outfit called Adult Colour.

To ease the stress of contemporary life, TM began work on solo ambient/experimental projects. By 2019 he began releasing his compositions under the adopted moniker Naviškie.

Currently, when he is not juggling fatherhood and a city job, TM divides his time writing and recording with Adult Colour, Naviškie, solo folk projects, as well as writing poetry, producing short experimental films, and working on various art side projects.

“My aim is to explore the spaces between the mundane and the ethereal. Embrace the artifice, embrace the quotidian, simultaneously. I take my lead from the colorfield artists like Clyfford Stills and Agnes Martin…exploring subtlety, minimalism, repetition. If nothing else, my work is centered on inducing and fostering the synesthesia I experience whenever listening to the natural and manufactured world around me. I wish to create waking dreams, often dark, often menacing, but therapeutic and blissful nevertheless.”
